The Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) issued debt worth 7.5 billion dollars in global markets. 

The Business Confidence Index in Mexico increased in December to 54.6 points from 54.0 points in November, maintaining levels not seen in over 10 years. 

Today, at 1:00 pm Mexico City time, the FED´s most recent meeting minutes will be published. We expect to learn about the debate regarding cuts in the federal funds rate. 

The US public debt surpassed 34 trillion dollars as Congress heads into a battle over financing.

Economic environment

The Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP for its acronym in Spanish) issued 7.5 billion dollars worth of debt in global markets. On January 2nd, 2023, the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit announced the placement of 7.5 billion dollars in global markets through three new bonds. The first is a 5-year bond worth 1 billion dollars that will pay an interest rate of 5.07% and a coupon of 5.00%. The second is a 12-year bond worth 4 billion dollars that will pay an interest rate of 6.09% and a coupon of 6.00%. The third is a 30-year bond worth 2.5 billion dollars that will pay a yield of 6.45% and a coupon rate of 6.40%. The first and second bonds will pay lower coupons than in 2023. The global demand-to-supply ratio was 2.84 times.
